Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 9 based out of Effingham has announced they will conduct Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (A.C.E.) patrols here in Lawrence County in April.
The patrols will allow the ISP to focus on the prevention, detection and taking enforcement action in response to violations associated with impaired driving and the illegal consumption or transportation of alcohol or drugs.
Officers working the detail will have zero tolerance for impaired and unsafe driving.
Alcohol and drug impairment are estimated to be factors in more than 47% of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois.
A.C.E. is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
