A Shelby County road construction project that had been scheduled for later has been moved up to next week due to the availability of a crew by the contractor.
S 800 E, which is the Decatur – Shelby County Line road between E Michigan Rd and the Town of St. Paul, will be closed March 17 - 19 to replace three culvert pipes and add extensions to a fourth one as part of a repaving project that was originally scheduled for later this summer.
The contractor for the culvert pipes and repaving is Dave O’Mara.
The larger culvert will be done on Monday. It is located about midway between the St. Paul
Dollar General store and the 'S' curve north of town. The last address accessible from the north
is the house in the curve which is addressed 7024 N County Rd 800 W, St. Paul in Decatur
County. The last address accessible from the south is the Dollar General Store, 545 N County Line Rd, St Paul.
On Tuesday, they will replace an 18” culvert pipe which is located just north of E 550 S.
The last address accessible from the north in Shelby County is 5469 S 800 E, Waldron.
In Decatur County, it is 7644 S County Rd 800 W, St Paul. The last addresses accessible
from the south are 7432 N County Rd 800 W, St. Paul in Decatur County and 5943 S 800 E,
St. Paul in Shelby County.
On Wednesday, all addresses in Shelby County on S 800 E and Decatur County on Road
N 800 W south of East Michigan Rd / Decatur County Rd N Old US Highway 421 will be accessible from the south only while a 15” pipe and a 30” catch basin are replaced at the intersection of S 800 E and E Michigan Rd.
The houses on E 550 S will be accessible from the west and north Monday and from the west
and south Tuesday and Wednesday.
The pipe extensions between 7428 N Decatur Co Rd 800 W on the east side of the road and
5943 S 800 E on the west side of the road will be added with one way traffic present and flaggers
controlling the traffic.
The milling and repaving will be done later while school is closed for the summer. It will also be done with flaggers present.
