Will Larrison was not a regional qualifier in the 800 meters at the Columbus North Track and Field Sectional. He set a school record in finishing fourth but only the top three automatically moved on to the regional.
The Waldron junior was later added to the Greenfield-Central Regional race and left no doubt about qualifying for the State Finals.
On Thursday, Larrison (photo) lowered his own school record to one minute, 54.93 seconds and finished runner-up in the 800 to earn his first state finals berth.
Larrison will be joined at the state championship meet on the campus of Indiana University on June 1 by a pair of Triton Central Tigers.
Senior Brayden Wilkins (photo) finished third in the 100 meters in 10.92 at the Greenfield-Central Regional to advance and sophomore Zeke Robertson placed third in the 300 hurdles, lowering his own school record time to 39.72.
Shelbyville senior Ethan Lambert finished fourth in the discus at 151 feet, one inch and will await a potential call back to join the state finals field.
Wilkins also finished sixth in the 200 in 22.36. Robertson (photo) placed ninth in the 110 hurdles in 15.39.
Those two also ran with Cash Compton and Braden Brown in the 400 relay and finished seventh in 43.19.
Waldron senior Braylon Williams competed in the discus competition but failed to secure a distance without fouling.
