Waldron tennis captured its third sectional title in the last six years with a 5-0 win over Morristown Friday in the championship match of the Shelbyville Sectional.
The Mohawks (13-3) lost a total of 11 games in the five matches against a 10-win Yellow Jackets squad.
At No. 1 singles, Charlie Fischer defeated Dalton McMichael, 6-1, 6-0.
Cash Young produced the exact same result at No. 2 singles over Eli Graves.
Lincoln Fischer did not lose a game in sweeping Gage Frey at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 1 doubles, Jackson Kuhn and Caige Sheaffer bested Michael Ballinger and Mitchell Ronan, 6-0, 6-4.
Noah Mitchell and Connor Ping finished off Ruston Kleine and Braxton Lenning at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 6-4.
Waldron will face Roncalli Tuesday in the semifinal round of the Center Grove Regional. The other semifinal pits Connersville against No. 10 Center Grove.
The regional championship match is Wednesday.
In addition, the singles state tournament and doubles state tournament begins this week. Southwestern’s Kyle Beck and Shelbyville’s doubles team of Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong will begin their postseason journeys after their teams were eliminated in the sectional round.
