Shelbyville, Triton Central girls soccer learn sectional foes

The Indiana High School Athletic Association announced the sectional pairings for the 32^nd Annual Girls Soccer State Tournament Sunday.

A total of 283 girls teams will begin competing in sectional tournaments held Oct. 6-11. Regional semifinals are Oct. 15-16 with regional championship matches held on Oct. 18. Semistate championships are Oct. 25.

The state championship matches will be played Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Michael Carroll Stadium at IU Indianapolis.

Class 3A, Sectional 12

Shelbyville and Richmond have the longest route through the sectional tournament hosted by East Central.

The Golden Bears (8-5) open the sectional against Richmond (8-5-1) with the winner advancing to face New Palestine (10-3-1) in the semifinal round.

In the other semifinal, No. 19 East Central (11-2-1) hosts Greenfield-Central (5-7).

Class A, Sectional 43

In the seven-team sectional hosted by No. 12 Monrovia, Triton Central earned a bye into the semifinal round.

The first match pits Brown County against Greenwood Christian with the winner advancing to face Triton Central.

In the other quarterfinal contests, Indianapolis George Washington faces the host Bulldogs and Hauser battles Providence Cristo Rey.

The draw sets up a potential rematch for Triton Central (9-3-2) with Monrovia in the sectional championship. The Bulldogs (12-3) defeated the Tigers, 6-2, Saturday.
