Shelbyville sophomore Brody Jeanette positioned himself to swim in four sectional championship races Saturday afternoon at the New Palestine Sectional.
In preliminary races Thursday at New Palestine, Jeanette secured two top-8 finishes in individual events and helped two relay teams advance to sectional final events.
Jeanette finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.11. He also qualified for the final in the 500 freestyle with a seventh-place finish (5:12.65).
Jeanette also was part of Shelbyville’s sixth-place finish in the 200 medley relay with Anderson Mollenkopf, Kendryk Pike and Everett Stegemiller. The 400 freestyle relay -- Jeanette, Stegemiller, Mollenkopf and Shia Veach — finished eighth.
Qualifying for consolation races Saturday were Stegemiller (12th in 200 individual medley; 12th in 100 butterfly), Mollenkopf (14th in 100 freestyle; 10th in 100 backstroke) and Veach (16th in 100 breaststroke).
Diving preliminaries are Saturday at 9 a.m. at New Palestine. Consolation and championship races begin at 1 p.m.
