Shelbyville High School’s girls golf team finished sixth Monday at the season-opening Pendleton Preview at Fall Creek Golf Club in Pendleton.
Lapel won the 9-team event with 336. Mt. Vernon (345), Anderson (395), Hamilton Heights (419) and Pendleton Heights Green (420) rounded out the top five.
Shelbyville posted 421 to finish ahead of Lawrence Central (435), Warren Central (445) and Pendleton Heights White (DNF).
Mt. Vernon freshman Ressie Lemmon shot a 1-under-par 71 in her first high school competition to secure the medalist honor.
Hamilton Heights’ Taylor Morrison (77) and Lapel’s Jane Arrington (77) and Annabelle Marshall (79) also broke 80 Monday.
Riley Everette led Shelbyville with a 94. She was followed on the Golden Bears’ scorecard by Julie Garrison (108), Maddy Jones (109), Hana Stenger (110) and Sophia Asher (112).
Shelbyville will host Mt. Vernon Thursday.
