Members of the Red Hill Track and Field Salukis were competitors at the IHSA Class 1A State Finals meet Thursday at O'Brien Field on the campus of Eastern Illinois University at Charleston.
They qualified in sectional competition at Newton. Sam Stimler competed in the 100 meter preliminaries and finished 33rd in a time of 11.44 seconds and in the 200 meter preliminaries and was 21st in 22.98. Those times were not enough to advance to the finals. Stimler would also anchor 2 Saluki relay teams in preliminaries Thursday. The 4x100 meter team of Clayton Roney, Brennan Potts, Zaydn Loudermilk and Stimler were 20th in a time of 44 seconds and the 4x200 meter team of Holden Jacobsen, Roney, Loudermilk and Stimler finished 18th in a time of 1:32.70. Those times were not enough to advance to the finals Saturday. Congratulations to those young men on an outstanding season and earning a trip to the state finals.
