The Plymouth Rockies traveled to Penn this past Saturday, to compete in the IHSAA Wrestling Regional finishing 4th out of 13 teams, With 9 entering the competition, Plymouth had 6 make it through and advance on to Semi-State.
Junior Wesley Smith (42-1) won his 1st Regional title at 145lbs posting his first 2 wins by pinfall and winning a tough finals match against Penn Senior Evan Eutsey by a 5-2 decision.
Fellow Junior Anthony Popi (40-2) won his 2nd Regional title at 285lbs, also capturing his first 2 wins by pin and winning a nail biter against Penn Senior Peyton Kendall by 2-1 decision.
Junior Caydn Smith (35-7) made his 1st regional finals appearance placing 2nd, battling his way through his first 2 matches, winning by major dec and pinfall.
Sophomore Braxton White (28-11) advances on to Semi-State placing 3rd at 120lbs winning his first match by pinfall, and winning the 3rd place match against tough Warsaw foe Elias Garza by 7-6 decision.
Freshman Coen Kraemer (16-18) also advances on to Semi-State placing 3rd at 126lbs, also winning his match by pinfall. Kraemer won the 3rd place match by avenging a sectional final loss to Wawasee foe Colton Sutton via pinfall.
Junior Seth Wright (25-11) advanced to Semi-State placing 4th place. Seth won his first match via tech fall 15-0.
The Rockies will travel to East Chicago next Saturday with hopes of punching their tickets to the state finals.
