Jr. High girls basketball Red Storm drops two to Warsaw PLYMOUTH - Last week the 8th Grade Lady Redstorm battled in two hard fought conference games vs the Warsaw middle schools, Edgewood and Lakeview falling to Edgewood 35-34 and to Lakeview by a 26-20 score. On Tuesday the girls traveled to with the Lady Redstorm getting into some foul trouble in the first half with Brighton Bird and Taylor Delp both picking up two fouls, but battled hard to stay in the game, only trailing 20-17 at halftime. The girls game out strong in the third quarter outscoring Edgewood 11-3 to take a 28-23 lead into the 4th quarter. With 3 minutes left in the game Lincoln had an 8 point lead, but Edgewood picked up their defensive intensity and hit two big threes to cut the Lincoln lead to 2. A few costly turnovers and missing crucial free-throws towards the end of the game resulted in Lincolns second loss of the season. Only three players made the scoring column for the Lady Redstorm, Kaylee Dragani led the team with 19 points, Taylor Delp added 11 and Brighton Bird finished with 4. On Thursday the Lady Redstorm competed in just their third home game of the season while taking on Lakeview. The free throw and turnover woes from Tuesdays game continued as the Lady Redstorm would go 2-15 from the free-throw line and commit 26 turnovers resulting in the loss. Both Lincoln and Lakeview would come out strong on defense only allowing a combined 14 points in the first half, the score was 7-7. Lincoln would hold on to a 1 point lead entering the 4th quarter. Lakeview had a strong 4th quarter as they outscored Lincoln 12-5, taking a 26-20 victory home with them. Scoring for Lincoln was Dragani with 8, Bird with 5, Ellie Jones with 3, Delp and Claire McDonald both finished with 2. This week the Lady Redstorm will compete in the NELMSC tournament where they will face Lakeview for the third time this season. A victory will send them straight into the finals as Milford and Wawasee have combined their 8th grade teams. The game will be played at Lakeview with a start time of approximately 6 p.m., the 7th grade Lady Redstorm will be playing at 5 p.m.
