Gavin Reed and Reece Prickett drove in three runs in the first inning and Aiden Smith pitched a complete game to get Shelbyville a 4-3 conference win Wednesday at New Castle.
Smith allowed three hits and three walks while striking out 11 to improve the Golden Bears to 12-7 (6-5 Hoosier Heritage Conference).
Arrin Murray took the loss for New Castle (5-15, 0-11 HHC). He surrendered six hits and three walks while striking out four.
The Golden Bears will host the Trojans today at Barnett Field.

At Shelbyville, the visiting Tigers completed the HHC sweep with a three-set win at No. 2 singles.
Shelbyville’s Sophia Asher won the first set but lost the next two to fall, 1-6, 7-5, 12-10.
At No. 1 singles, Jillian Darby defeated Shelbyville’s Ava Muckerheide, 6-2, 6-0.
Yorktown improved to 11-4 (4-3 HHC).
Shelbyville hosts Franklin today.
