Class 3A, No. 10 Shelbyville used a 9-run second inning to defeat Greensburg Friday at Barnett Field, 10-5. The Golden Bears improved to 16-3.
Brayden Smith had a home run and drove in four runs. Aiden Smith had two hits and three RBIs.
Luke Coomes collected the win, pitching 4.1 innings, allowing four hits and three walks but just one run. Cooper Thoman and Gavin Reed each pitched 1.1 innings to secure the win.
Ethan Smith had two hits and three RBIs for Greensburg (16-7).

Waldron 15, Morristown 8
At Morristown, the Mohawks scored 10 runs over the final four innings to secure a split of the Mid-Hoosier Conference series with the Yellow Jackets.
Hunter Dodson had two doubles, scored three runs and drove in two for Waldron. J.D. Smith had two hits and three RBIs. Jackson Kuhn had three hits and scored three runs.
Dodson pitched a complete game and struck out six to earn the win.
Mason Bentley had three hits and four RBIs for Morristown.
Morristown (8-9, 3-5 MHC) hosts Hauser (13-4, 8-2 MHC) today. Waldron (7-13, 3-7 MHC) is at Edinburgh (6-14, 3-8 MHC) today.
Heritage Christian 11, Triton Central 4
At Triton Central, three Heritage Christian pitchers limited the Tigers to five hits and struck out eight to get the Eagles to 13-7-1 this season.
Connor Benson had three hits and scored four runs in the win.
Janssen Capps and Weston Smith had solo home runs for Triton Central (6-14).
Softball
Morristown 20, Waldron 4
At Morristown, a 10-run second inning led to the Yellow Jackets getting a second MHC win over the Mohawks in as many days.
Sawyer Rogers had a triple and a home run, scored four runs and had four RBIs. Mykynzy Smith had two hits and three RBIs.
Kailey Hinchman had a solo home run for Waldron. Bre Barton drove in three runs.
Morristown (8-9) hosts Hauser (7-10) today.
Waldron (5-12) hosts Mooresville Christian (3-5) Tuesday.
Mt. Vernon 6, Shelbyville 1
At Mt. Vernon, Amelia Anderson limited the Golden Bears to two hits and three walks while striking out seven in the Hoosier Heritage Conference contest.
Anderson and Ashlyn Laffey each had three hits for the Marauders (10-9, 5-2 HHC).
Anna Newhouse took the loss for Shelbyville (10-13, 2-4 HHC). The sophomore pitched five innings, allowed eight hits and all six run, but none were earned.
Girls tennis
Connersville 3, Waldron 2
At Waldron, the Mohawks won both doubles matches.
At No. 1 doubles, Emerson Lindsey and Jackie Corlett defeated Cam Butts and Trinitee Steele, 6-2, 6-3.
Malia Murphy and Hannah Rouse produced a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles over Maddie Harrison and Ella Miller.
The No. 3 singles match went three sets before Amieyla Mays defeated Leah Kuhn, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Boys track and field
Southwestern 80, Oldenburg Academy 51, Trinity Lutheran 23
At Southwestern, the host Spartans won all four of the field events.
Charlie Newton finished first in the high jump (five feet, eight inches). Ethan Sipes won the long jump (18-0). And Jackson Guy secured first-place points in the discus (104-9) and shot put (37-0).
Southwestern’s only other individual event winners were William Stamper (46.69 seconds in 300 hurdles) and Dusty Stevens (57.27 in 400).
Southwestern won the 400 relay with Sipes, Bruce O’Brien, Landon Drake and Jake Sandefur. They crossed the finish line in 46.16.
Sipes, O’Brien, Drake and Stevens won the 1,600 relay in 3:55.46.
Girls track and field
Oldenburg Academy 86, Southwestern 22, Trinity Lutheran 18
At Southwestern, the host Spartans did not have an event win.
Maddie Barlow finished runner-up in the 800 (3:09.58). Ashlynn Wadsworth was second in the long jump (11-5).
The quartet of Mallory McInerny, Kaylee Pike, Julianna May and Barlow finished second in the 400 relay (1:07.53).
