Lady Lancers lose heartbreaker to Academy CULVER - The varsity softball team dropped a heart-breaking 4-3 decision at Culver Academy Thursday. The Lancers trailed 2-0 and 3-1 before rallying to tie the game at 3-3 in the sixth. LaVille the go-ahead runner at second in the top of the seventh but could not get the lead run home. Culver Academy opened the bottom of the seventh by reaching base on an error. After a line out, a single pushed runners at first and third. The intentionally walked the next batter to load the bases, before the number six hitter hit a single up the middle for the decisive run. Alexis Wilifing suffered the hard-luck loss pitching a seven-inning complete game. WIlfing walked one and struck out four. Allison Medors and Sydney Coblentz led the offense with two hits each. Medors a pair of singles and Coblentz a siingle and double. LaVille will begin a four-game homestand Tuesday, April 16. The Lancers will open Hoosier North Athletic Conference play against Winamac April 16 at 5 p.m. LHS then hosts North Judson-San Pierre on April 17 at 5:45 p.m. before a triple-double on April 20 with Elkhart Christian Academy and Victory Christian Academy.
