Both Lawrence County boys' basketball teams posted opening round quarterfinal wins Monday in the Class 1A Louisville (North Clay) Regional Tournament.
The top-seeded and #2 ranked Lawrenceville Indians scored the first 21 points of the game and rolled to an 89-36 win over the Ramsey Rams at Lawrenceville. The 29-2 Tribe were led by Zander Cessna with 25 points, Noah Wilson with 20 and Jacek Mickiewicz with 15 in picking up their 6th win in a row.
The Red Hill Salukis snapped a 4-game losing streak to improve to 15-16 with a 71-56 win over Patoka in Bridgeport. They were paced by senior Ozzy Ash who scored 37 points in the game and surpassed the 2,000 points scored mark. He is the Red Hill High School all-time leading scorer.
The two Lawrence County rivals will meet Wednesday night in the first semi-final at Louisville at 6 p.m. The game can be heard on GIANT-FM 103.1 with Steve Anderson and Bill Richardson.
