The Class 1A Newton Track and Field Sectional Meet was held Wednesday. It was won by Altamont with 105 points ahead of host Newton with 103. Casey-Westfield was third with 70 and Toledo-Cumberland fourth with 66. The Red Hill Salukis did well and placed sixth with 47 points. Sam Stimler won the 200 meters in a time of 22.76 and will advance to state. He also anchored 2 Saluki relay teams who qualified for state-4x200 meters (1st in 1:32.82 with Holden Jacobson, Clayton Roney and Zaydn Loudermilk) and 4x100 meters (2nd with Roney, Brennon Potts and Loudermilk). Stimler also finished third in the 100 meters and Roney was third in the long jump. The Lawrenceville Indians also competed and finished 15th in the field with 10 points. Tanner Waller was fourth in the long jump and Brayden Morrison was sixth in the 800 meters and seventh in the 1600 meters.
