The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) says member schools have approved 9 amendment proposals that appeared on the ballot in the annual by-laws referendum that ended December 16th.
The most significant change is the reduction in summer contact days from 25 down to 20, which goes into effect in 30 days and will be applicable for the summer of 2025.
IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson issued a statement saying the move was supported by the organization's Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, who believe that student-athletes need increased time for physical and mental recovery throughout the summer.
Close to 70% of the member schools across the state took part in the voting.
