Triton Central High School junior Zoie Gray has been named the Beth Prince State Farm Athlete of the Week.
Gray claimed an individual sectional championship Friday at the Perry Meridian Sectional. She was the only sectional champion of the 10 Shelby County wrestlers that advanced.
Gray, ranked No. 3 in the 190-pound weight class, won two matches by pinfall in less than one minute and then dominated the championship match to capture the sectional title and remain undefeated (25-0).
Gray defeated Franklin Central’s Sophia Jones, 11-1, in the championship. It was her third win this season over Jones, who is ranked No. 4 in the weight class.
Gray will compete in the Muncie Central Regional Saturday morning.
