Morristown’s Remi Spicklemire and Shelbyville’s Haylee Barnes, Bryleigh Heller and Piper Brown all advanced Saturday from the gymnastics sectional at Connersville.
Spicklemire, a senior, finished tied with New Palestine’s Lynzie Stiller for second place in the vault with a score of 9.025. The Yellow Jacket also placed fifth on the balance beam with a score of 8.40.
She was 10th in the floor exercise (8.725) and 19th on the uneven bars (7.20) which placed her ninth in the all-around competition at 33.35.
Spicklemire will compete in all four events Friday at the Franklin Central Regional held at The Gymnastics Club in Indianapolis.
The trio of Golden Bears will compete in individual events Friday at the regional.
Barnes, a junior, and Heller, a sophomore, qualified on the balance beam and in the vault.
Barnes placed eighth in the vault (8.70) and 15th on the balance beam (7.475). Heller finished 12th in the vault (8.55) and 17th on the balance beam (7.375).
Brown, a sophomore, finished 15th in the floor exercise (8.125) to advance out of the sectional. Brown was the only Shelbyville gymnast to compete in all four events. She placed 16th in the all-around standings with a score of 28.85.
New Palestine captured the sectional title with a team score of 107.2. New Castle (103.475) and Connersville (99.25) finished second and third and advanced to the Franklin Central Regional.
Shelbyville finished sixth at 81.175.
