For the second time in the last two seasons, the Lawrenceville basketball Indians are the regular season Little Illini Conference (LIC) champions.

They wrapped up league play Friday night at Paris with a 53-44 win over the Tigers, but not without a fight. It was Senior Night for Paris and the 12-17 Tigers put up an inspired performance before a big crowd. The Indians led 11-7 after one quarter and only 26-24 at the half. The contest was still tight with the Tribe leading 38-37 heading into the fourth quarter. But some big baskets by seniors Zander Cessna and Noah Wilson pushed the lead out down the stretch and the Indians went on the win to finish 7-0.

Lawrenceville was led by three in double figures-Jayden Goff with 13, Jacek Mickiewicz 12, and Noah Wilson 11.

The Indians finish the regular season with an overall record of 28-2 and take a five-game winning streak into the first round of the Louisville (North Clay Class 1A Regional tournament. The top-seeded Indians will host Ramsey in a first-round quarterfinal matchup at Lawrenceville High School on Monday, February 23rd at 6 p.m.
