Ancilla bowlers take second at Nationals; BUFFALO, NY - The Ancilla College women bowlers fell behind the eventual champs and could not catch them in the two –day National Junior College Athletic Association Women’s Bowling Championship that concluded Saturday. Despite second place finishes by Taylor Ellison in the women’s singles and women’s all-events and another second place finish in the women’s doubles by Brooklyn Schutz and Alecia Albanese, Schenectady beat the Lady Chargers 12,142 to 11,985 to claim the national title. Colton Baker won the Men’s All-Around Event at the National Junior College Athletic Association Bowling Championships Saturday. Baker and Walter Griffin III won the men’s doubles and the Ancilla men’s team finished second in the nation. The Chargers led the 20-team field heading into three Baker Blockson Saturday afternoon, but could not hang on for the title. Highland Community College beat Ancilla 12,849 to 12,823 to secure the national championship. Coach Al Franklin’s team has been a top program all year and this is the first time Ancilla has had a full women’s team. With all the freshmen on the team next year could be special also.
