Vern E. Ross, 79, of Plymouth

PLYMOUTH-Vern E. Ross, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. He was born on January 17, 1946, in LaPorte, IN, to Wayne and Lucille (Burkholder) Ross.

Vern graduated from Tyner High School in the Class of 1964. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War as a lineman in a Signal Battalion. In 1965, he married Sandi, who would precede him in death in 1985. On February 15, 1986, Vern married Lynn Bardo in Plymouth; she survives.Vern was a strong worker, driving a Truck for Del Monte for 31 years, retiring in 2001. He was full of life and a huge kid at heart who always had a joke for someone. He enjoyed traveling all over with Lynn, eventually settling down in Coco, Florida, for the winter months. Vern never missed a Thursday morning Duffer’s Club group over a hot meal, fresh coffee, and great conversation with his friends. You could also find Vern on his porch, taking in the scenery and watching time go by, gazing at the wildlife.

He was a member of the Lakeside Baptist Church in Lakeville.

He is survived by his wife Lynn of Plymouth; son Vern (Cheryl) Ross of Brookville, OH; daughter Misti Ross-Prater of Walkerton; grandchildren: Kevin Ross of Brookville, OH; Nathan Ross of Brookville OH; Lyndsey (Wes) Biddle of Grovertown; great-grandchildren: Aiden Gardner, Brycen Biddle, Colten Biddle, Ayra Moreland-Ross, Jacquelyn Moreland-Ross; siblings: Marilyn Skiles of Bloomington, IN; Judy Macy of Ft. Myers, FL; Myra (Mike) Farmer of Marion, IN; Brother-in-law Steve Macy; as well as special friends Doug (Linda) Kucera of Plymouth.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Ross, nephew Jonathan Ross, brother-in-law Rick Skiles, and son-in-law Terry Prater.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 2:00 pm at New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth, with Pastor Vito Rulli officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard and the North Liberty VFW 1954.
