PLYMOUTH-Tom M. Cochern, 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Center for Hospice Raclin House.
He was born on November 17, 1952, in Plymouth, Indiana, to Nobel and Glendora (Eaton) Cochern. Tommy graduated from Plymouth High School with the Class of 1971. He dedicated 20 years of service as a janitor at Purdue University before retiring.
Tom was best known for his laid-back nature, easygoing spirit, and soft-spoken demeanor. He had a deep compassion for others and was always willing to stand up for the underdog. He found joy in the simple things—especially spending time in nature, taking long walks through the woods, and caring for animals. His dogs and cats held a special place in his heart. Above all, Tom cherished time with his family and will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his siblings: Peggy Holland of Bourbon; Jerry Cochern, and James (Christine) Cochern of Plymouth; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Glenda Bockman and Carol Harman.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at New Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Marshall County Humane Society, P.O. Box 22 Plymouth, Indiana 46563 or to Ethnos 360 Missions, 312 West First Street, Sanford FL, 32771-1231.
