Susan C. Foster, age 82, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Haven of Bridgeport. She was born April 18, 1944 in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Leroy Foster and Florence Mattoon Foster.
Susan was employed at a grocery store in Sumner, Illinois, during her early working years. She was a faithful member of Sumner Community Church, where she shared her musical talents by playing the piano for church services. Susan was well known for her ornery sense of humor, which brought smiles to those who knew and loved her. She had a special affection for cats and never hesitated to provide a home for stray cats that found their way to her. Susan also enjoyed needlepoint, thoughtfully creating bookmarks and decorated sweatshirts that she generously shared with family and friends. To her nephews, she was affectionately known as the "cool" aunt, creating many cherished memories that will be treasured for years to come.
Preceding Susan in death were her parents and brother, Jon Foster.
Survivors include: nephews, Shawn (Katie) Foster of Pataskla, Ohio and Brett (Krista) Foster of Delaware, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Susan Foster of Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 12:00 PM CST at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park in Claremont, Illinois.
