Rita Elaine Alberts, age 84, of Plymouth

Rita Elaine Alberts, age 84, of Plymouth,  passed away Wednesday morning, April 23, 2025 at Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Plymouth Campus.

Rita was born April 30, 1940 in Plymouth to Carl A. Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Anderson) Alberts. She assisted in running the family farm on 9th Road, cared for her parents, and sat for her grand-niece and three grand-nephews. She was a member of the St. Michael Church, served on the Altar Rosary Society, helping to prepare funeral dinners. Rita enjoyed reading western novels, especially Louie L’Amour, along with quilting, knitting, and crocheting. She kept three generations well-stocked with dish cloths and wool slippers.

Rita is survived by her sister Mary Frances Alberts of Plymouth; two nieces: Linda Gleitz and Crissie (Jan) Garrison, both of Plymouth. Also surviving are seven great-nieces and nephews: Hillary (Chris) Pine of Winamac; Adam Rife of Indianapolis; Cory (Danielle) Gleitz of Plymouth; Andrew (Tina) Gleitz of Denver, Colorado; Cameron Garrison of Lynchburg, Virginia; Morgan Garrison of Plymouth; and Keely Garrison of Plymouth; and one great-great-niece, Talia Gleitz of Plymouth.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Carl Alberts Jr., her sister Elizabeth Joan (Betty) Alberts, and one niece, Nancy Rife of Winamac.

 

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 28, 2025 at St. Michael Catholic Church (627 N. Walnut St., Plymouth, IN). The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m.

Burial will take place in New Oak Hill Cemetery (1300 Chester St., Plymouth, IN).

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Plymouth Public Library (201 N. Center St., Plymouth, IN 46563).
