Mary A. Mohon, 87, of Plymouth

Plymouth – Mary A. Mohon, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Pilgrim Manor in Plymouth. Born on January 30, 1938 in Gary, Mary was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Klida) Melnik.

Mary graduated from Lew Wallace High School in Gary with the Class of 1956. Following high school, Mary worked in a seat belt factory in her youth. She married Jamie Mohon on March 25, 1977 in Chesterton. Working as a dedicated housewife and mama bear, Mary proudly raised her children, Linda, Joanie, Barb, and Danny. Later in life, Mary worked at Pioneer Seed sorting corn.

In her quiet time, she enjoyed drawing, writing handwritten letters, and working puzzles. She loved passing the time by reading her bible or watching Andy Griffith re-runs. On a sunny afternoon, you could find her walking through the neighborhood to go to yard sales.

Mary faithfully attended the Bible Baptist Church and encouraged those she loved to go to church and “get right with god before it’s too late.”

Mary is survived by her children, Linda (Ron) Music, Joanie Vanata, Barb (Jon) Lindstrom, and Danny Moore; step-son, Jeff (Pam) Standfer; grandchildren, Kate, Hannah, Stevie, and Kevin; and siblings, John (Beverly) Melnik and George (Charlene) Melnik.

Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jamie; and parents, Joseph and Anna; brother, Joe; and grandson, Jesse.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 11AM – 1PM at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 1PM with Pastor Rick Lowe officiating.
