PLYMOUTH- John Ready, 89, was ushered into the arms of his Savior on New Year’s Day. He was born on July 7, 1936, in South Bend, Indiana, and was the son of Alvin and Helen (Gordy) Ready.
John worked for the South Bend Tribune in the Circulation Department as a District Manager for 36 years. After retiring from the Tribune, he went to work in the Circulation Department for The Paper in Milford, IN. On September 17, 1983, he married Kaye. They shared 42 wonderful years of marriage; Kaye survives.
John was very outgoing, compassionate, and opinionated. John enjoyed boating and water skiing on the Lake of the Woods. He shared his passion for the water with his children and grandchildren, teaching them how to water ski. After retiring from the newspaper, he took up long-distance bike riding. He pedaled his way through Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, and Michigan. John also enjoyed gardening, especially corn, and his extra produce would often find its way to the Neighborhood Center.
He is survived by his wife Kaye of Plymouth; son Jon (Sue) Ready of Arizona; daughter Janey (Don) Green of Plymouth; stepchildren: Tom (Carol) Lenker of Texas; Charles (Mini) Lenker of Utah; Peggy (Dave) Couture of Ft. Wayne; Yvonne Comeno of Plymouth; mother of his children Pat Barnhart of Plymouth; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kathleen Reaker, brother George Ready, and his sister Mary Carpenter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2025, from 11-1 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Scott Yoder officiating.
Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
