Douglas Carleton Anspach Sr., 75, of Plymouth

PLYMOUTH-Douglas Carleton Anspach Sr., 75, of Plymouth, Indiana, passed away on September 27, 2025, after a brief illness.

Born on November 26, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Doug was the second of five children of Clarence and Norma Anspach. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sally (Clarke) Anspach, his junior high sweetheart and lifelong partner with whom he shared a wonderful life.

Doug was a proud 1968 graduate of Fort Wayne’s South Side High School. Doug was also an Indiana University graduate and honorably served his country in the United States Navy. After his military service, he resumed his career at NIPSCO, which took his family to Nappanee in 1986 and then to Plymouth in 1989 where he and Sally continued raising their two treasured children, Doug Jr. and Jenny. After retiring from NIPSCO, Doug enjoyed his second career as the Executive Director of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and the Plymouth Industrial Development Corporation. In the twilight of Doug’s working career, he was lucky enough to join the team in the pro shop at Swan Lake Resort in what he often called his “dream job” where every day felt more like play than work.

Those left to treasure Doug’s memory are his wife, Sally, of Plymouth, his son Doug Jr. (Michelle) of Miamisburg, Ohio and his daughter Jenny (Jeremy) Sickmiller of Plymouth. Doug’s favorite people called him Grandpa, and he was the best of the best. His cherished grandchildren include Grace, Paige and Ella Anspach and Leo and Marcy Sickmiller. He is also survived by two brothers, Geoff (Wendi) Anspach of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Brette (Dawn) Anspach of Englewood, Florida. Doug and Sally enjoyed wintering in Florida with Brette and Dawn and spending their days at the beach, another one of Doug’s happy places. Nieces, nephews and many friends also survive to hold his memory close.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Norma Anspach, and his sisters, Iva Chambers and Deborah Locke.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life at the Webster Center, 110 Webster Avenue in Plymouth, Indiana on Sunday, October 26th from 2:00-4:00 pm.
