Cara Mae Thompson, 86, of Bourbon

Cara Mae Thompson, 86, of Bourbon, went home to be with the Lord at 9:53 pm, Thursday, December 4, 2025 at her residence.

Cara Mae was born on January 15, 1939, in Bremen, Indiana, to the late Walter and Hilda Joy (Byrer) Dinkeldein. On December 28, 1956, she was united in marriage in Bourbon to Charles Henry Thompson, who preceded her in death on September 6, 1997.

A devoted homemaker, Cara Mae found joy in caring for her family and especially in helping to watch over her grandchildren. She was a member of the former First United Methodist Church of Bourbon and also spent time selling Avon products throughout the community.

She enjoyed shopping and cherished time spent with her loved ones, which truly meant the world to her. She also enjoyed sewing and her family always looked forward to her homemade noodles and apple crisp.

She is survived by her children Deb and husband Tom Mikel of Bourbon, Donna and husband Tom Kreiter of Tippecanoe, Dennis Thompson of Bourbon; Doug and wife Linda Thompson of Silver Lake, and Danielle and husband Charley Drubert of Warsaw; 17 Grandchildren; 31 Great Grandchildren; and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

Cara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, and 2 grandchildren.

The funeral service will take place at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 10, 2025 in the Faith First Fellowship Church 204 North Washington Street Bourbon, Indiana will Pastor Kenneth Cooke officiating.

The interment will take place following the service in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery of Bourbon, Indiana.

Visitation hours will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm, Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at the Faith First Fellowship Church, Bourbon, Indiana.

The arrangements have been entrusted to King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, Indiana.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the American Legion Post 424 202 S Main St, Bourbon, IN 46504.
