Calvin Montgomery, 74 of Plymouth

Calvin Montgomery, 74 of Plymouth, IN, received his angel wings and flew into the big, beautiful sky.

Born in LaPorte, Indiana, on October 25, 1950, he was the son of Bill and Ruby (Cole) Montgomery. He had five siblings: Cleo (Petra Jensen) Montgomery, Harry Montgomery, Donna (Robert) Lobesky, Bill Montgomery, Brenda (Randy) Brown, and several nieces and nephews.

He grew up in Knox, Indiana, and met his wife, Brenda Buffington, at a dance in Bass Lake, IN. They would be married on January 31, 1970, and would share 55 years of marriage. With that union, they would welcome one daughter, Victoria Jo Montgomery-Filson, who he lovingly called Fred, and son-in-law Tim Filson who he loved like a son. But the name he liked being called the most was Pa by his only grandson, Cole Montgomery-Filson. He was so proud to watch his sporting events, listen to college, hunting, and work stories. He worked hard owning and operating Montgomery Well Drilling for 30 years, retiring and passing it along to Tim and Torie.

He was a collector of all and loved his family fiercely. He made his home on Myers Lake in Plymouth for 55 years and spent his winters in his home in Flagler Beach, Florida. He will be missed by many with his big, beautiful smile.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ruby, brother Cleo, in-laws: Robert Lobesky, Jim (Joan) Buffington, Mike Buffington, Lynda (Roy) Burbrink.

Cremation will take place, and there will be no services at the request of the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all who reached out and prayed for Calvin, the health care workers, the Marshall County Council on Aging, and his driver, Gary, for all of the encouragement throughout their travels. A special thank you to Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth, Bryon Holm and Gina Moore.

Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Condolences can be left for the family at www.johnson-danielson.com
