Barbara LaVerne (Yeager) Tucker, 97, of Shelbyville, went to her heavenly home on August 27, 2026, at Timbercreek Village.
Born July 25, 1929, in Waldron, she was the daughter of Donald G. Yeager and Kathyrn E. (Borem) Yeager.
She married Dale Wayne Tucker on May 25, 1947 and they became the proud parents of 7 children- Deena "Dee" Dover (Keith), Kathy Perry, Daniel Tucker (Pam), Toni Whittenbarger (Rich), Marcie Gephart, & Jani Dych; brother- Jim Yeager (Cindi); several nieces, nephews, cousins; 21 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, her grandparents, son Stephen, a sister, a great grandchild, and son-in-law Jim Gephart Jr.
Barbara attended many schools in Indiana, Tennessee, Alabama and Washington State. She graduated from Waldron High School in 1946, and was a member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church for 59 years, where she taught youth Sunday School and also enjoyed helping with the church newsletter for many years. She loved her church, family and friends.
She retired from General Electric/Wellman after 25 years of service. Barbara had wonderful family times camping & traveling. She was an avid reader and liked working puzzles. She was a devoted fan of her children and grandchildren attending sporting events & activities, and also babysitting for most of them. She enjoyed water aerobics with dear friends and was the happiest spending time with her precious family.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Lewis Creek Baptist Church, 1400 E 600 S, Waldron, IN 46182, with Pastor Keith Dover & Rev. Timothy Mohon officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service, at the church.
