Ardyce E. Kreider was sung into heaven by family and friends on August 28, 2025.
Ardyce was born April 6, 1940, to the late Alvin and Dorothy (Edson) Trygg in Bismarck,
North Dakota. Almost exactly one year later her sister Joyce was born.
Ardyce graduated from Bismarck High School and then went to Valley City State Teachers
College (now University) in North Dakota, majoring in English and Art. Following her
sister’s move to Indiana, Ardyce moved to South Bend where she taught art at Perley,
Kaley, and Colfax Schools. She also taught art in North Liberty. Ardyce then had a second
career as the owner of the Bible Bookstore in Plymouth.
On June 22, 1969, Ardyce married Ernest Kreider. She and Ernie shared 32 years together
until his death in 2001.
Ardyce was a true artist, from painting numerous landscapes, portraits, and still lifes in her
home studio to creating delicious meals and legendary brownies in her kitchen. She will
be greatly missed.
Ardyce is survived by her sister and best friend, Joyce Trygg, as well as foster daughter
Charis Holderman, foster granddaughter Peggy (Dick) Murray, and foster grandsons
Wayne Holderman and Mark Holderman.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30AM on Sunday, September 7 at the First Brethren
Church of South Bend, 4909 S. Ironwood. A private graveside ceremony at Oak Hill
Cemetary in Plymouth will take place at a later date. Contributions in memory of Ardyce
may be made to the church.
Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is honored to be caring for the family at this time.
