
Anita B. (Cage) Moriarty, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Anita was born on April 24, 1933, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Louis Newton Cage and Mildred Theresa (Kilroy) Cage-Miller.
She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School with the class of 1951.
Anita proudly served her country with the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 and there she met her husband, Russell Lee Moriarty. They were married on August 4, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Church in Connellsville, Pennsylvania.
Anita started working at Marshall County Parkview Hospital as an x-ray receptionist in 1973. She retired from St. Joseph Regional Medical Center – Plymouth Campus as the Radiology receptionist in 2000. Anita loved being with her wonderful family and friends who gave her joy and enriched her life. She loved reading, playing cards with family and friends, garnering her the nickname “Ace.” She was a crossword puzzle enthusiast and an avid speed walker. Russ affectionately called her “Betty Crocker” for her culinary skills.
She was a long-time member of the Democratic Party and was a precinct committee woman during the 1960’s and 70’s.
Anita was a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church since 1959. She was an active member of the Altar Rosary Society, St. Michael’s Church Choir and Harvest House. She was a volunteer at the Marshall County Historical Society. Anita was a Breast Cancer survivor. She also battled with Rheumatoid Arthritis later in life.
She is survived by her two sons: Michael A. (Ellen) Moriarty, of Midlothian, VA; and Mark A. (Lucinda) Moriarty, of South Bend, IN; and a daughter, Kathleen A. (Patrick) Kowalski, also of South Bend, IN.
Grandchildren: Ryan (Brittany) Moriarty of Midlothian, VA; Sean (Caitlyn) Moriarty of Rome, GA.
Great Grandchildren: Jaxon Moriarty, Madison Moriarty of Midlothian VA; Barrett Moriarty, Camryn Moriarty and Sasha Moriarty of Rome, GA
She is survived by her sister Kathleen (Trevor) Matthews of Anthy-Sur-Leman, France; and brother, Allan (Jayne) Cage of Bradenton, FL
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Russ, her sister Carolyn Cage and son Peter S. Moriarty.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 1 - 3 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563.
A Memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
