Across Indiana’s Second District, Hoosiers are rallying behind the One Big Beautiful Bill, inspired by the promises it’s delivering. Here’s what they are saying:

Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02): “The One Big Beautiful Bill is a major victory for Indiana’s Second District and for all Americans. From small business owners and CEOs to local officials, workers, manufacturers, farmers, law enforcement, parents, and Seniors, this bill delivers real results. We’re cutting taxes, reducing government spending, eliminating burdensome regulations, unleashing American energy, securing our borders, and standing with parents and hardworking Hoosiers across the state.”

Danny Reynolds, owner of Stephenson’s of Elkhart: “I would call this bill not only beneficial but necessary, from a small business standpoint. In today’s often uncertain economic environment, the last thing small business needs is more government interference and tax burden. By permanently reducing tax rates and permanently increasing the small business tax deduction, this bill prevents a massive and unbearable tax hike on 33 million small businesses (and 98% of all retailers). Simply put, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” is among the most pro-small business pieces of legislation in recent history, and businesses like Stephenson’s of Elkhart need this to continue serving our great customers and community, as we have for the last 94 years!”

Officer Rich Freeman, FOP 91: “Not taxing overtime would benefit every profession out there. For law enforcement officers, it would boost morale and incentivize longer hours, ensuring better staffing for critical public safety roles such as special events or additional traffic and security needs. It recognizes the demanding nature of their work, reduces financial strain, and supports departments struggling with recruitment and retention, ultimately enhancing community safety without additional budgetary burden.”

Kristen, waitress in Mishawaka: “I support no tax on tips because, as someone in hospitality, tips aren’t a bonus — they’re my livelihood. We work hard to create great experiences for our guests, going above and beyond every shift. It’s frustrating to be taxed on the tips we earn through our extra effort.”

Debbie, senior in Goshen: “The One Big Beautiful Bill would help seniors a lot. We have worked all our lives and put money into Social Security, and it’s time we get a break. We also need to keep our military strong and our country safe. It’s not a perfect bill, but it does help our country with tax cuts, too. Let’s support the Republicans and Congressman Rudy Yakym and keep making America great again!”

Amy, mother of seven in Goshen“When young families are starting out, and as they grow, the child tax credit is something that they rely on to balance out some of the costs that inevitably come with raising kids. By increasing the tax credit, we better support moms and dads and send the message that the US is pro-baby.”

Michael Behrens, President of Complexus Medical: “Passing of the Big Beautiful Bill would be a significant win for Complexus Medical. Part of this Bill would revert the R&D tax credit to same-year deductions rather than over a 5-year period. Complexus Medical relies on these deductions to more rapidly invest into advanced manufacturing practices such as machine vision and robotics and realizing tax credits in the same year as the investments are crucial.”

Peter Barrett, Senior Vice President of Smoker Craft: “I can say without hesitation that the One Big Beautiful Bill is exactly what our industry—and our country—needs. It supports small businesses, strengthens the supply chains that keep us building right here at home, and helps ensure a strong future for American manufacturing. We are eager to see the swift passage of the bill.”

Craig Brouyette, President of Pike Lumber Company: “Our industry is an old industry. It is capital intensive. It is labor intensive. We rely on a truly sustainable resource and have a great story to tell about our products. Unfortunately, our industry is under pressure due to cheaper (if not in cost, in quality) and often imported substitute products that are sometimes unhealthy. “The One Big Beautiful Bill” will extend the business and household tax cuts that were initiated by the first Trump administration. This should help our industry continue to reinvest in modernizing equipment while also putting more money in consumers’ hands to help increase demand for our products. At the same time, this bill goes a bit further to eliminate the tax on overtime premiums and our workforce would directly benefit from this. It seems only logical, from a medium-sized business management perspective, to pass this bill.”

Harold Parker, Owner of Parker Farms: “Parker Farms is a fourth-generation farm. Our children and grandchildren are involved. Making the estate tax exemption permanent is essential for any Hoosier farmer who desires to pass their farm to the next generation. The Big Beautiful Bill offers this tax code to allow generational transfer of farm assets.”

Jesse Bohannon, Marshall County Commissioner: “I want to thank Rudy for his support of President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. President Trump and the Republican Congress have been keeping the promises they made. The bill eliminates taxes on tips and overtime, empowering working-class folks grinding to get ahead. It makes permanent the tax cut we all received in 2017 and strips burdensome regulations to unleash the American entrepreneur. I trust President Trump and Congressman Yakym to continue codifying the DOGE cuts and to work further on returning sanity to federal spending. The Big Beautiful Bill is one more step towards making America great again. Trust the process and full speed ahead.”
