Welfare check finds female sleeping in vehicle in Speedway Station parking lot

Plymouth Police responded to the request for a welfare check about 2:35 a.m. Saturday, October 18th, at 2225 North Michigan Street, the Speedway Gas Station. 

The welfare check was for a female who was asleep in a vehicle at the Speedway Station.

Officer Fase with the Plymouth Police Department made contact with the suspect, Ashton Gaines, 36, of Muckshaw Road in Plymouth.

An investigation took place, and Gaines was eventually placed under arrest and booked into the Marshall County Jail at 4:48 a.m. Saturday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. She was released with No Judicial Review at 4:32 Monday morning.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
