Senator Mike Bohacek had the pleasure of welcoming a group of students from Oregon-Davis Junior-Senior High School to the Statehouse recently.
The group served as Senate pages for the day, receiving a tour of the Statehouse and meeting with legislators.
School administrators worked with social studies teacher Sarah Gillard to ensure the children were prepared for the trip, providing new clothes and meals for all the students.
Senator Bohacek said, “A lot of these kids had never had the opportunity to visit the Statehouse or even Indianapolis, so it was very important to me to ensure they had a good experience. They were an excellent group of students and asked a lot of good questions about state government and the legislative process.”
The Senator continued, “Due to the distance, it can be difficult for students from our area to have the time and means to come down to Indianapolis, but Sarah really went above and beyond to ensure these students had the best experience. I'm proud to have teachers who strive to give their students these special opportunities in Senate District 8, and I hope her students realize how lucky they are to have someone who cares so much about their educational experiences.”
