The Indiana Democrat party will be represented by a new candidate in the District 42 race following a recent caucus.
Ashlee Vitz was the only candidate who filed to fill the vacancy left by Chad Harmon. Harmon filed and won the nomination but was forced to withdraw due to a health concern.
Vitz will run against District 42 Republican incumbent Alan Morrison. Morristown was first elected to the office in 2012.
District 42 includes parts of Parke, Clay, Vermillion, Fountain, and Vigo counties.
