The Vincennes Police Department Detective Division is currently investigating a series of reports involving individuals identifying themselves as security company representatives attempting to enter or entering homes for the purposes of “upgrades” to security systems.
In each instance, the person(s) of interest claim to be from the same company that the complainant subscribes to. When the individuals were allowed entry into homes, the person(s) of interest asked for the security code to the residence, and it was given to them. If you have had a recent interaction like this and have given your security code to an unknown person, please speak with your company representative about getting your passcode changed.
If any community member has had an incident like this happen over the afternoon / evening hours of November 6, please contact the Vincennes Police Department at 812-88-1630 with any information you may have. Any assistance from the community is greatly appreciated.
A doorbell video and photograph has been added to this post of an unidentified person of interest that was involved.
