Lawrence County Community School District #20 has announced it is seeking candidates for an appointment to the Board of Education to fill a vacancy created by the recent resignation of Mike Seitzinger.
The person selected to replace Seitzinger will serve on the board until the next regular school board election in April of 2027. To be eligible, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age, an Illinois resident, a registered voter and reside in Region 2 of the Unit #20 District.
Applications must be received by Unit #20 Superintendent Doug Daugherty at ddaugherty@cusd20.net by no later than 4 p.m. (CST) on Oct. 31.
Applications can also be submitted in person to the Lawrence Unit #20 District office at 1802 Cedar Street, Lawrenceville, IL 62439 during regular school business hours.
The board has 60 days to fill the vacancy. The appointee will be seated by the board on or before the regular December school board meeting.
