Unemployment was up in January across southeastern Illinois.
That according to figures released by the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES).
In Lawrence County, the jobless rate was 4.9% for the month.
That rate was lower than December and also lower than in 2024.
January unemployment was 4.2% in Crawford County, 4.1% in Edwards and 4.5% in Jasper County.
Both neighboring Wabash and Richland Counties had the lowest rates in the region at 3.7%.
