Two people died in a fire in Decatur County early Sunday morning.
About 12:30 a.m., Decatur County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at 5715 S. County Road 1000 W., Greensburg. First responders arrived to find the residence fully engulfed in flames.
As firefighters began their efforts to extinguish the fire, two individuals were located. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene. Pending identification and notification of next of kin, no further information regarding the deceased was released as of this report.
The fire was contained about 2 a.m.
Responding fire departments included the Burney Volunteer Fire Department, Westport Volunteer Fire Department, Letts Volunteer Fire Department, Hartsville Volunteer Fire Department and Greensburg Fire Department.
Other agencies assisting included the Decatur County Communications, Decatur County EMS, Decatur County Coroner's Office, Decatur County REMC, Indiana State Fire Marshals Office and Decatur County Crisis Intervention Team.
