A ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday marked the official opening of Tippecanoe Valley School Corp.'s Valley Early Learning Academy, providing care and education for children aged 6 weeks to 3 years old.
Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. (TVSC) celebrated the official opening of the Valley Early Learning Academy (VELA) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday at Mentone Elementary, where the academy is located.
The event was hosted in partnership with the Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce and Launchpad, underscoring the collaborative effort behind this milestone.
VELA is a licensed childcare provider offering quality care and education for children aged 6 weeks to 3 years old. Enrollment is now open to the community, and with limited space available, seats are expected to fill quickly. Interested parents and guardians are encouraged to schedule a tour with VELA Coordinator Courtney Kindig by emailing kindigcou@tvsc.k12.in.us. Additional information about VELA can be found online at www.tvsc.k12.in.us by selecting the Valley Early Learning Academy tab.
At VELA, the focus is on providing developmentally appropriate activities designed to nurture each child’s growth and potential. The academy’s curriculum incorporates the High Scope Curriculum, a research-based, play-centered program that encourages children to explore, interact and exercise their imagination through purposeful play. High Scope’s proven approach supports children’s cognitive, social and emotional development, ensuring a solid foundation for lifelong learning.
“We are thrilled to open the doors of Valley Early Learning Academy to our community,” Kindig said. “The partnerships and dedication that made this academy possible demonstrates our commitment to supporting young learners and their families. We are excited to see the positive impact VELA will have on our community.”
VELA extends its gratitude to all the organizations and individuals who contributed to this project’s success. The continued support from partners like the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce and Launchpad exemplifies the power of collaboration in creating opportunities for children and families.
