There were no significant role changes for the Shelbyville Central Schools board members Monday at the first meeting of 2026.
Board president Mike Turner will remain in that position in 2026. Amanda Bunton will continue as vice president and Dr. Kate Garringer will serve again as secretary.
In board business Monday, the first public hearing was held for the next bond project for the school system.
Superintendent Dr. Matt Vance explained as ongoing projects progress, the school system is looking at its next wave of maintenance projects including HVAC work at Shelbyville Middle School.
The next project also may include the purchase of buses and renovation work inside Hendricks Elementary School.
“We are not looking to construct anything new,” said Vance.

A second public hearing will follow on Jan. 19 at the administrative offices for the school system.
Vance also informed the board that Shelbyville High School has a 94.74% graduation rate. The board was presented with comparable school district graduation rates for comparison.
“It’s a nice comparison to see where we are,” said Vance. “I appreciate where we are, but we are always striving to be better. … When you are in the mid-90s and you can see there are a lot of districts that are not where we are, I think we are in a very good place and it’s something we should be proud of.”
The 2026-2027 course guide for Shelbyville High School was approved Monday.
