The city of Sumner will soon have a new police chief.
The city council, meeting in special session Friday, moved to accept the resignation of current chief Travis Trainor and to employ him as the new city administrator.
He will assume his new duties on January 15th at an annual salary of just over $72,000.
Trainor has been with law enforcement in Sumner for 20 years, initially starting as a patrol officer.
Doyle Hoffman, currently a full time Sumner patrol officer, will become the new police chief.
