As warmer weather approaches, the Town of Culver is gearing up for spring with a series of community events and routine maintenance schedules. Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim recently shared important updates to help residents prepare for the changing season.

"With warmer weather in view, I want to provide a couple of reminders and make you aware of a few upcoming events," Heim stated.

The town’s leaf truck is currently making rounds as time permits and as leaf piles accumulate. Residents are reminded to rake their leaves to the curb rather than into the street. It is crucial to keep sticks out of the leaf piles, as they are collected separately. The town notes that leaf piles containing sticks will not be picked up.

Beginning the week of April 6, Culver will conduct routine hydrant flushing. This essential maintenance removes sediment from water lines and improves overall water flow. During this process, residents may notice discolored water. While the water remains safe for consumption, officials advise against washing white laundry during this time. If water appears discolored, residents should run their faucets for a few minutes until it runs clear.

Bargain hunters and sellers alike can look forward to Culver’s Townwide Garage Sales, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25. Residents planning to host a sale and wishing to be included on the official town map should email their information to kheim@townofculver.org or call Town Hall at 574-842-3140.

Sellers must provide their name, sale address, the days they will be open, and a brief description of the items for sale. All information must be received by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, to ensure placement on the map.

Following the garage sales, Culver will hold its Townwide Cleanup Pickup Day on Monday, May 11. Residents looking to dispose of unwanted items should place them at the curb over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, May 9 and 10.

The utilities crew will collect the items on Monday morning. Residents are asked to secure any items that could blow away. Please note that tires and hazardous waste will not be accepted during this cleanup.

For more information on any of these events, residents can contact the Culver Town Hall.
