The REES Theatre invites audiences to step back into Hollywood’s golden age with a special screening of the beloved romantic comedy Pillow Talk (1959), starring screen legends Doris Day and Rock Hudson, on Wednesday, February 11th at 2 PM.
Winner of the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, Pillow Talk is a sparkling comedy of manners that helped define the modern romantic comedy. Set in New York City, the film centers on successful interior designer Jan Morrow (Doris Day) and carefree songwriter Brad Allen (Rock Hudson), who share a telephone party line and quickly become enemies due to Brad’s constant romantic phone calls.
When Brad meets Jan in person, he realizes she wants nothing to do with him. Determined to win her over, he assumes a new identity—posing as a charming, sincere Texan named “Rex Stetson.” Unaware that Rex and Brad are the same man, Jan finds herself falling for the very person she despises, setting the stage for witty misunderstandings and laugh-out-loud moments.
Praised for its clever dialogue, stylish design, and undeniable chemistry between its leads, Pillow Talk remains a timeless favorite and a shining example of classic Hollywood storytelling. The film also features memorable supporting performances by Tony Randall and Thelma Ritter.
This screening at The REES Theatre offers audiences the opportunity to enjoy a true cinematic classic on the big screen, celebrating romance, humor, and the enduring charm of vintage film.
Tickets are $8 each and include popcorn and a drink for Seasoned Citizens.
