A fatal crash in Knox County Tuesday.
It occurred just before 10 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. 50 and State Road 550. The preliminary investigation stated that a vehicle was attempting to cross U.S. 50 from State Road 550 and was hit by an SUV traveling westbound.
The vehicle’s driver was Tammy Payton, 40, of Terre Haute, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Payton’s passenger, Troy Gulley, 22, of Terre Haute, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital and then airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
The SUV’s driver, 46-year-old Jessica Small, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries.
