The Mayor's Summer of Music Concert Series rolls into its grand finale this Friday night, September 11th, at River Park Square in downtown Plymouth — and the entertainment is stepping up in a big way.
Fort Wayne's premier nine-piece R&B powerhouse, the Sweetwater All Stars, will take the Senter Stage for a groove-filled night of classic R&B, rock, soul, and Motown. Food trucks begin serving at 5:30 p.m., and the music starts at 7 p.m.
The performance is a long-awaited one for Plymouth concertgoers. The Sweetwater All Stars were originally scheduled to appear on Friday, July 17th, but Canadian wildfire smoke and the threat of severe weather forced the cancellation of that show. After a slight schedule adjustment, the band was rebooked to close out the 10-concert series on September 11th.
Laura Mann, Promotion of the City Coordinator, was disappointed when the July performance had to be called off but wasted no time working to bring the band back.
"I hated to make that announcement," Mann said, noting how eager she had been to introduce the exciting new act to the free concert lineup. During conversations with the band following the cancellation, she asked whether a rebooking later in the summer might be possible — and the Sweetwater All Stars said yes.
Founded by Sweetwater founder Chuck Surack, the Sweetwater All Stars are made up of Sweetwater sales engineers, studio personnel, and local session musicians. The group has built a devoted following across Indiana and beyond with their high-energy performances and deep catalog of crowd-favorite classics.
Hungry before the show? The Marshall County Museum will be selling ice cream drumsticks for just $1, and the Plymouth High School Band Boosters will run the main concession stand with hot dogs, popcorn, candy, and pop. Several food trucks will also be on site.
Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and a cooler with their favorite beverages and settle in for a free night of live music in the heart of downtown Plymouth. All ten concerts in the Mayor's Summer of Music series are provided at no charge thanks to the generous support of local sponsors — no tax dollars are used.
The September 11th concert will serve as the grand finale of the 2026 Mayor's Summer of Music series, giving the Plymouth audience the performance they were denied in July.\
