The process toward filling a vacancy on the Sumner police department is moving forward.
City administrator Travis Trainer informed the City Council Tuesday that there are three candidates for the position.
They have completed the initial testing and background checks and will now be interviewed by the Police Committee before the end of April.
The committee will then make a recommendation to the full city council for approval.
The council did table filling a vacancy for a city maintenance worker.
They did formally approve a fiscal year budget for 2025-26.
The Farmers Market is set to begin May 17th in the downtown Sumner area.
After a brief executive session to discuss personnel and litigation, the council emerged and took no action.
