A South Bend woman was arrested last week for false informing and driving while suspended.

On Wednesday, March 6th, Deputy Hubbard with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was on routine patrol and stopped a vehicle at 11:30 p.m.

The driver, 27-year-old Silver McVicker of Obrian Street in South Bend, gave the officer the wrong information in an attempt to hide her suspended license status. After McVicker was identified, she was taken to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for driving while suspended and false informing. She was released on a $500 cash bond at about 1:30 Thursday morning.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
