On Monday, February 20, 2023, Devonte Gunn, 31, from South Bend, went to court in Marshall County Circuit Court for a hearing.
The Honorable Judge Steele held Mr. Gunn in contempt of court and sentenced Devonte Gunn to sixty (60) days in the Marshall County Jail.
Devonte Gunn fled the courthouse at 9:08 a.m. and was apprehended a few minutes later and taken into custody. Officers from the Plymouth Police Department assisted in locating and apprehending Mr. Gunn.
Devonte Gunn was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital for medical evaluation and was then booked into the Marshall County Jail for the contempt case along with Resisting Law Enforcement, Class A Misdemeanor, and with Escape, a Level 5 Felony. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
